Welcome to IN A FLASH!
Thank you so much for being here – we are thrilled for the enthusiasm from our beloved literary community for our new literary magazine! More than two hundred of you are already gathered here to celebrate flash creative nonfiction, and we are so proud to bring more of this work into the world.
Our first-ever submissions call opens TODAY! From Oct. 1-15, please submit flash nonfiction (500 words or fewer) on the theme of STILL. Full guidelines are here. Our first issue will publish in January.
Celebrating the power of flash nonfiction and our contributors is at the core of what we do. Each issue will highlight one featured author with a craft Q&A, along with the writer’s headshot and bio. Each featured author will receive a $25 honorarium. We are excited to grow and celebrate the work of this community devoted to flash nonfiction’s incredible impact.

In Case You Missed It…
Did you miss our editor introductions? Meet our founding editors Leanne Rose Sowul, Nina Lichtenstein, Cynthia Allen, and Casey Mulligan Walsh for more of what we look for in great flash and for examples of our work. Our fifth and final founding editor is Kate Lewis, whom we’ll introduce later this week.
Thank you for being part of this endeavor with us, and we can’t wait to read your work.
Cheers,
The IN A FLASH Editors
Exciting!
I love this!! I've been journaling a lot about stillness, solitude, and the idea of 'quiet' lately, so this is a good chance to get past my fears and put some of my thoughts out there in the form of flash nonfiction. Posting my intentions here for the sake of accountability 😊
